KWASH Team Pays Courtesy Call to West Pokot Governor.

The Kenya Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (KWASH) team, led by Engineer Benard Kirui, paid a courtesy call to the Governor of West Pokot County, H.E. Simon Kachapin, to discuss the implementation of KWASH activities in the county. During the meeting, the team briefed the governor on the objectives and progress of the KWASH programme, which aims to improve access to safe water, sanitation, and hygiene services for communities across West Pokot. The Governor welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed the county government's commitment to supporting projects that enhance public health and sustainable water services. Following the courtesy call, the KWASH delegation held a technical meeting with the County Project Implementation Unit (PIU) members, County Executive Committee Members (CECMs), Chief Officers (COs), and Directors from the Water and Health departments. The discussions focused on strengthening coordination, reviewing implementation strategies, and ensuring effective delivery of planned water and sanitation interventions. In the afternoon session, the team conducted a field visit to one of the ongoing water and sanitation projects targeted for results under Cycle 2 of the KWASH program. The visit provided an opportunity to assess the progress on the ground and identify key areas requiring attention to ensure successful project outcomes. The visit underscores the continued collaboration between the county government and development partners to expand access to clean water and improved sanitation, ultimately contributing to better health and livelihoods for the people of West Pokot.
