JOINT TECHNICAL SUPPORT MISSION IN MURANG'A COUNTY

JOINT TECHNICAL SUPPORT MISSION IN MURANG'A COUNTY

The Kenya Water Sanitation and Hygiene Program (K-WASH)team today carried out a joint technical support mission in Murang’a County, bringing together the Program Management Unit (PMU), the World Bank, the State Department for Water and Sanitation, the Water Sector Trust Fund, and the Water Services Regulatory Board. The engagement focused on reviewing and verifying data submitted by the county’s Water Service Providers on the bankability of projects under the program. This verification process involved an assessment of financial models, Performance Improvement Action Plans (PIAPs), and results from previously funded projects, particularly those supported through the Covid Liquidity Support Grant (II). The review is designed to determine the company’s capacity to achieve higher Operational Cost Coverage Recovery (OCCR) throughout the program period. Ultimately, the mission aims to strengthen the county’s efforts in expanding access to safe and reliable water supply, enabling Murang’a and its water institutions to make a meaningful contribution toward the realization of Sustainable Development Goal 6 (SDG 6) — ensuring access to clean water and sanitation for all by the year 2030.
