Mombasa Workshop Concludes Regional consultation to Shape Kenya's Healthcare Sanitation Standards .

The two-day Regional Stakeholders Consultation Workshop on the Draft WASH in Health Care Facilities (HCFs) Standards and Infrastructure Designs has officially concluded in Mombasa, marking another milestone in the nationwide effort to strengthen water, sanitation and hygiene services in health facilities. The forum brought together county government officials and technical staff from Cluster Three, comprising the Coast and Northeastern counties of Garissa, Kilifi, Kwale, Lamu, Mombasa, Taita Taveta and Tana River. The regional consultation forms part of a broader national exercise covering 30 sampled counties across Kenya, aimed at ensuring local perspectives inform the development of national WASH standards and infrastructure designs. The final day began with a summary overview and review of the draft WASH infrastructure designs for health care facilities, allowing participants to reflect on key recommendations and proposed improvements. The afternoon session transitioned into a plenary discussion focusing on the way forward, next steps and closure of the workshop. The Mombasa consultation marked the final stop in a series of regional engagements that traversed Eldoret, Machakos and Mombasa, bringing together stakeholders to collect views and recommendations on the Draft WASH in HCFs Standards and Infrastructure Designs. The feedback gathered from the three regions will contribute to refining the draft document and ensuring it responds to the diverse needs of counties across the country.
